The imports of naphtha used in the production of ethylene, by Japan, surged 25.2 percent month-on-month to 1.238 million tons, the data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed.

The demand for naphtha increased during the month, mainly due to completion of maintenance activity at two naphtha-fed steam crackers.

The average price of imported naphtha in July was US$ 869.5 per ton, a decline of 10.6 percent from the average import price of US$ 972.4 per ton in June, according to the Ministry.
