Chinese benzene imports grow modestly in August

The benzene import market in China grew 4 percent month-on-month to 12,023 tons in August 2012, according to statistics released by Chinese customs. The average import price was US$ 1,177/ton.
 
Around 50 percent of Chinese benzene imports were from South Korea, while Thailand and Japan accounted for 26.2 percent and 23.9 percent of China’s total benzene imports during the month.
 
Last month, China exported 6,567 tons of benzene at an average price of US$ 991/ton. In comparison, the country had exported 4,988 tons of benzene in July 2012.
