The export of petrochemical products from Iran has not been impacted much by the sanctions imposed against the oil-rich country, especially by the United States.

Iran exported around US$ 6 billion worth of petrochemicals during the initial six months of the ongoing Iranian calendar year that started on March 21, 2012, according to the National Petrochemical Company.

The country has set a target of US$ 15 billion during the current year and hence it is presently exploring and expanding into new markets for petrochemical products.

Last calendar year, Iran exported 16.2 million tons of petrochemical products to 60 countries globally.

Europe and China continue to be leading buyers of petrochemical products from Iran, followed by the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Latin America.

Iran also looks forward to boost its petrochemical production from last calendar year’s 44 million tons to 49 million tons during the current year.
