Chinese PTA market in wait-and-watch mode

The purified terephthalic acid (PTA) market in China remains in wait-and-watch mode with lesser number of actual negotiations taking place.
 
In East China, PTA offers were around 8,450 yuan/ton, while sporadic bids from downstream buyers were in the range of 8,300-8,350 yuan/ton and negotiated price was around 8,400 yuan/ton.
 
PTA prices in the spot import market were in the range of US$ 1,095-1,100/ton for Taiwan goods. Downstream manufacturers bid for prices in the range of US$ 1,080-1,085/ton and discussions centred around price of US$ 1,085/ton.
 
For PTA imported from Korea, market offers were around US$ 1,085/ton and sporadic bids were around US$ 1,070/ton. Very few actual negotiations took place for price of about US$ 1,075/ton.
