China's PTA imports decline in October

The import of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) by China declined in October 2012, according to relevant data.
 
Last month, China imported 231,600 tons of PTA (Tariff No 29173611), which was 164,200 tons lower than the amount of PTA imported during the corresponding period last year. The October imports were 93,800 tons less than the quantity imported in September.
 
The average import price of PTA was US$ 1,089/ton in October, down 14.28 percent year-on-year, but up 3.91 percent on a month-on-month basis.
 
For PTA (Tariff No 29173619), China’s imports in October 2012 totaled 89,900 tons, which was 16,800 tons less than the quantity imported during the same period last year. The imports were 14,100 tons lower than the amount imported in September.
 
The average import price was US$ 1,053/ton in October, down 15.99 percent year-on-year, but up 3.03 percent month-on-month.
