Chinese CPL plants operate at low levels

The caprolactam (CPL) manufacturing plants in China are currently operating at low levels due to large pressure from inventory.

The manufacturers are currently focusing on reducing their stocks, and only a few of them are able to maintain profitability.

Meanwhile, Sinopec has announced its CPL settlement price for November contracts at 17,700 yuan/ton, much lower than the 19,000 yuan/ton settlement price for October contracts.

Industry analysts do not expect the Chinese CPL market to pick up in the short-term.
