Mitsui Chemical drops capacity rates at Sakai cracker

Mitsui Chemical has reduced the operating capacity of one of its naphtha cracker and also plans to undertake maintenance turnaround at another naphtha cracker next year.

“Mitsui Chemical has reduced production capacity rates at its Sakai naphtha cracker to 80%, due to slowdown in demand from the domestic market,” a company official informed Fibre2fashion.

He further said that another naphtha cracker located at Chiba, is likely to undergo a maintenance turnaround next year.

The naphtha crackers at Sakai and Chiba, each have a production capacity of 780,000 tons per year.
