Slight increase in benzene supply in Chinese markets

The market supply of benzene slightly increased in Chinese domestic benzene market on December 12. While cargo holders tended to increase prices, downstream manufacturers bought goods only as per their immediate requirement.

In East China market, benzene prices prevailed around 10,600 yuan/ton, almost same as previous day’s prices. But, downstream buyers continued to purchase goods according to their immediate demand.

There was less price fluctuation in North China benzene market and prices were around 10,550 yuan/ton. Supply from factories slightly increased but offers from manufacturers were firm.

Overall, benzene sellers are sticking to their price levels, but demand from downstream manufacturers is sluggish due to off-season, and the market is witnessing limited turnover.

Market analysts expect the Chinese benzene market to witness thin trade volume in the short-term. They expect the prices to fluctuate in a narrow range.
