China's PTA imports plunge in Dec'12

There was a substantial decline of around 47.8 percent year-on-year in China’s purified terephthalic acid (PTA) imports (Tariff No 29173611) in December 2012, according to relevant statistics.
 
Last month, China imported 252,000 tons of PTA compared to 483,100 tons imported in December 2011. However, December PTA imports were 35,300 tons more than the quantity imported in the previous month.
 
The average import price in December was US$ 1,116/ton, up 3.27 percent year-on-year and 1.96 percent month-on-month.
 
In addition, China imported 70,100 tons of PTA (Tariff No 29173619) in December 2012, which was a decrease of 35,300 tons over the same period last year and 23,800 tons less than November imports. The average import price was US$ 1,093/ton, up 5.08 percent year-on-year and 1.85 percent month-on-month.
