Chinese PTA spot market volumes yet to rebound

The volume of transactions in the Chinese purified terephthalic acid (PTA) spot market are yet to rebound after the end of the Spring Festival holidays.
 
On February 19, PTA offers in East China spot market were in the range of 8,800-8,850 yuan/ton, and sporadic bids from buyers were around 8,750 yuan/ton. However, the sellers were more inclined to make deliveries as market transaction was abnormally light.
 
For Taiwanese cargo, PTA offers were in the range of US$ 1,190-1,200/ton, and market bids were around US$ 1,185/ton. Discussions were held in the price range of US$ 1,185-1,190/ton.
 
Prices of PTA imported from South Korea were in the range of US$ 1,185-1,195/ton, and buyers bid for price of around US$ 1,180/ton. Discussions remained in the range of US$ 1,180-1,185/ton.
