Chinese VSF and VFY prices decline last week

Prices of Cotton Linter were assessed at RMB 2860/ton during the last week ending July 27, 2013, which was slightly down from the week before. In the last updates from market, offer prices were in the range of RMB 3100/ton to RMB 3300/ton. Trading prices were in the range of RMB 2700/ton to RMB 2900/ton. Average prices for the last week were RMB 2730/ton.
 
Prices of Dissolving Pulp were offered at RMB 6750/ton in the last week, which was relatively stable compared to the previous week. Prices of imported Dissolving Wood Pulp were assessed at US$ 880/ton. Prices of Pulp imported from the U.S. were in the range of US$ 880/ton to US$ 910/ton, while those from Canada were in the range of US$ 860/ton to US$ 875/ton. Prices of Pulp imported from Sweden and Russia were between US$ 860/ton to US$ 880/ton.
 
VSF prices declined to RMB 13300/ton in the last week, which was down by RMB 80/ton from the week earlier. VSF market opened at RMB 13300/ton, remained stable during the week, and prices were assessed in the range of RMB 13300/ton to RMB 13500/ton. In the Chinese market, offers for imported VSF hovered in the range of US$ 1.90/kg to US$ 1.93/kg. Market experts expect VSF prices to remain stable-to-up in the near term.
 
In the last week, VFY market declined further due to weak demand from the downstream buyers and weak market fundamentals, and prices were assessed at RMB 35520/ton. VFY producers kept offers in the range of RMB 35450/ton to RMB 35650/ton. VFY market remained dull and market participants were less confident about market outlook during that period. In the Chinese market, offers for imported VFY hovered in the range of US$ 5670/ton to US$ 5780/ton.
