Spanish & Iranian Consortium to set up Arvand EPCC's MEG plant

Arvand Petrochemical Company has awarded ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol (EO/EG) plant contract to a Spanish Tecnicas Reunidas and Iranian company Sazeh consortium.

Under the contract signed by Managing Director of Arvand Petrochemical Company Gholamreza Mostajab al-daveh and the Managing Director of Sazeh Company Saeed Yaqmaei, the plant will be set within 40 months, at Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Bandar Imam, on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf.

About 550,000 tons monoethylene glycol (MEG) will be produced per year, including diethylene glycol - 55,000 tons , triethylene glycol - 3,700 tons, and pure ethylene oxide - 50,000 tons per year.

The plant is likely to be completed within 40 months.

The MEG plant will use 360,000 ton s year of ethylene as feedstock which will be produced in Arvand's Olefin No. 8 plant.

A 54,600 Nm3/hr pure oxygen plant for making ethylene oxide is also covered in the contract that will be supplied by Air Liquid of France.

Arvand Petrochemical Company will be looking after the implementation and operation the MEG plant.
