Huge plunge in US cotton imports

In January-March this year, export growth of raw materials continued and further expanded to 53 percent. Export of cotton, chemical fiber, wool and wool top achieved rapid growth.

Meanwhile, raw material imports reached 980,000 tons, worth US $1.64 billion, down 36 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

The largest commodity of cotton imports registered 508,000 tons, with import value of $680 million, a decrease of 55 percent in both figures. Cotton imports from the US dropped by 79 percent.

Global statistic show that the imports of cocoon, chemical fiber raw materials continued to maintain a negative growth.
