Jiangsu Junma Fiber Company plans to build a new caprolactam production facility with an annual output of 200,000 tons. The unit will be located in Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province.
The venture requires an estimated investment of around 1.45 billion yuan. It is expected to be operational by 2008.
Caprolactam, one of the important chemical raw materials, is used mainly in the production of nylon 6 engineering plastics and synthetic (nylon) fiber. This fibre is utilized in textile products and industrial yarns.
The global caprolactam consumption in 2004 was about four million tons and experts believe that the demand could reach to five million tons by 2015. Of this, China's demand will account for 20 percent of the world requirement.
