In the month of July, Caprolactam (CPL) market basically remained unchanged, especially since overall market sentiment was weak. Earlier in the month, spot price in overseas market maintained at US $2300-2330 per ton, but actual trade price was at about $2295 per ton.

Entering the first ten days of the month, under the influence of some adverse factors, trade price rose to $2300-2310 per ton. During the remaining days of the month, price displayed no significant waves. Mainstream price marked $2,300 per ton.

In domestic market, spot price showed a slow downward trend, mainly affected by import price pressure and weak demand in downstream enterprises. In the early 10 days, average price fell 250 yuan per ton, or 1.11 percent.

In the middle ten days, price further declined 150 yuan per ton, or 0.68 percent. By the end of the month, price again fell 100 yuan per ton, or 0.45 percent.

Total price drop for the month amounted to 500 yuan per ton, or 2.22 percent.

Regarding the future market trend, due to the influence of equipment maintenance or production close on malfunction in South Korea, India, Russia, Poland and other countries, CPL supply will be tight.

But CPL price would not rise significantly due to some disadvantages such as the expectation of decline in crude oil price, resumed domestic production after the completion of advice maintenance, and weak demand from downstream market. CPL price is more likely to climb slightly.
