According to the (modal enterprises) statistics of China Textile Circulation Association, national production of viscose staple fiber (statistics from modal enterprises) in August 2007 stood at 58,305 tons, down 0.16 percent from July, but up 7,614 tons over the same time last year, or an increase of 15.02 percent.
August sales hit 58,288 tons, improving 395 tons over the previous month, or 0.68 percent, 2,755 tons above the same time of last year, a boost of 4.96 percent. August inventories were 10,145 tons, up 0.17 percent over the previous month, but down 0.23 percent from the same month of last year.
August production and market rate was 99.97 percent, 0.83 percentage points higher from the previous month, but down 9.58 percent from the same month of last year. Inventory level was at 17.40 percent, up 0.06 percentage points over the previous month, but down 2.66 percent from the month a year earlier.
Viscose staple fiber price in August showed an up trend in steadiness, from 20,050 yuan per ton at the beginning of the month up to 20,800 yuan per ton by the month end, gaining 750 yuan per ton, or 3.74 percent.
