CPL market remains weak

Caprolactam (CPL) market remained weak on December 24, trading atmosphere was pale. Transaction price stood at about 23,000 yuan per ton, some lowered to 22,800 yuan per ton, with small orders slightly higher in price.

Sinopec introduced the settlement price for December CPL at 23,300 yuan per ton, down 700 yuan from the previous month. January offer was at 23,000 yuan per ton, down 1,000 yuan per ton from the previous month.

Buyers are little interested in spot purchase by RMB, market sentiment showed slight stalemate. Cargo in term of US dollar declined in price. The prices of some landed cargo and some cargo floating on the sea drifted downward to US $2420-2450 per ton (CFR China main port, L/C 90 days). Discussing prices slightly lowered, trade volume was poor.

December CPL contract price of South Korean company Capro was concluded at $2470 per ton (CIF China main port, L/C 90 days), down $50 per ton from November. December trade volume was estimated at over 2000 tons.

December contract price for Japan's CPL was at $2480-2500 per ton (CIF China main port, L/C 90 days), with actual transaction price slightly lower.

Korean goods in Taiwan region was transacted at $2430 per ton (L/C at sight), trade volume about 1500 tons.

European goods were offered at about $2,500 per ton (CIF China main port L/C90 days).
