Ethylene prices show a mixed trend on April 9

Recently, china is experiencing an increase in demand for ethylene as well as for down stream products with the growing economy. The domestic ethylene industry is passing through a golden period at the moment.

According to a Government forecast, by 2010, China plans to double its ethylene production capacity to reach over 18 million tons, as ethylene output in China is growing at a rapid pace. Provinces of Jiangsu, Beijing, Shangdong, Jilin and Guangdong are considered as the largest producers of ethylene.

Ethylene prices, on April 9, showed a mixed trend. Prices for Asian as well as European region demonstrated a slight rise, where as for the Far Eastern region it remained stable, compared to last week.

Ethylene prices in Asia region:

Ethylene, CFR Northeast Asia, at US $1240-1250 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CFR Southeast Asia, at US $1120-1130 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Far East region:

Ethylene, FOB Korea, at US $1240 per metric ton.
Ethylene, FOB Japan, at US $1230 per metric ton.

Ethylene prices in Europe:

Ethylene, FD Northwest Europe, at Euro 1015.00-1019.00 per metric ton.
Ethylene, CIF Northwest Europe, at US $ 1330-00-1334.00 per metric ton.
