According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in March 2009, China's petrochemical production registered 2,131,000 tons, an increase of 6.7 percent year-on-year and up by 9.5 percent from the previous month.
From January to March in 2009, China's cumulative output of petrochemicals reached 5,739,800 tons, an increase of 6.1 percent year-on-year. The total petrochemical output in 2008 had stood at 24,046,000 tons.
Out of the above, production of pure benzene touched 394,000 tons in March 2009, compared to the production of 378,000 tons in the same period last year, representing an increase of 4.1 percent year-on-year.
As of March this year, China's total production of benzene achieved 1,010,000 tons, compared to the production of 1,104,000 tons in the same period last year, representing a reduction of 8.5 percent year-on-year.
