After the Spring Festival, spandex companies raised prices by 3,000 Yuan per ton which took prices of 40D spandex close to 54,000 Yuan per ton.
But the downstream sector has not accepted these prices as they still hold low-priced inventories.
Along with which, the operation rate of downstream consumers is at low level and complete consumption of the will take between 30-45 days, after which the market will brew a new round of price hike in early April.
As per unofficial sources, spandex capacity is expected to increase by around 30,000 tons in the fourth quarter of 2010, which may put pressure on the market.
