Naphtha demand by ethylene crackers in Japan was lower in March, than in February, due to several ethylene crackers undertaking maintenance works.

The main ethylene producers like Showa Denko with capcity of 695,000 tons per annum and Tosoh Corp with capacity of 493,000 tons per annum, were off-stream.

Japan is expected to maintain lower naphtha demand until June, as several other ethylene production plants are scheduled to stop production for overhauling of plants.
