China's new PTA capacity addition reached 5.5 million tons in 2009, due to which, now, PTA production capacity has increased to 17.8 million tons / year and is expected to reach 19.9 million tons by 2010.
Meanwhile, domestic PTA demand is projected to be about 17.9 million tons, due to which PTA will show oversupply state. China will also face a huge amount of foreign supplied PTA.
China's total imports stood at 5.08 million tons in 2009. PTA will have significantly excess capacity, taking into account the global supply situation.
