Paraxylene price turned soft in tandem with upstream market. In S E Asian market, price declined by US $5 / ton and was in the range of $1060-1065 / ton. Downstream buyers still tried to pull down price in the range of $1055-1060 / ton. In Europe, October PX settled down at €805 / ton.
PTA price declined marginally due to poor upstream support. In S E Asian market, price of PTA was around $950-955 / ton. Buyers did try to pull down the price below $950 / ton.
Ethylene increased marginally today and was assessed in the range of $1050-1055 / ton in S E Asian market. In US market, September ethylene contracts settled at 39 cents / pound but October spot values continued to hover near about 36 cents / pound.
MEG price was more or less unchanged at $860 / ton in S E Asian market. Sellers continued to quote at level of $865 / ton but could not found price acceptance.
