Power and automation technology leader ABB Lummus Global has been awarded a contract from Sidi Kirer Petrochemical Company (SIDPEC) to draw a second ethylene unit in Alexandria, Egypt.
The new ethylene unit will have a capacity of 460,000 metric tons per year (MTA). This is in addition to the 300,000 MTA already being produced in the existing unit designed by ABB Lummus Global. The unit is expected to be completed by the end of 2008, and will feature Lummus's state-of-the-art olefins technology, including its SRT furnaces.
The plant will be designed to crack a range of gas feedstocks and will feed new downstream units to be built by SIDPEC.
