“Following the earthquake, Japan's ethylene production capacity is down by 25 percent”, said a top official of an industry body.
“Four ethylene production plants are under force majeure in the eastern region of Japan, ever since the devastating earthquake followed by the Tsunami struck Japan” said the Chairman of Japan Petrochemical Industry Association.
“This has led to ethylene output dropping by a quarter”, Kyohei Takahashi added by saying.
“The four plants are located in the Chiba, Kashima and Kawasaki petrochemical complexes in, Chiba Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture and Kanagawa Prefecture, he informed.
