Japanese MMF output marginally up in April

Japanese production of man-made fibres (MMF) rose marginally in April over the same month of last year.

Output of man-made fibres rose 1.2 percent to 86,322 tons year on year, of which production of synthetic fibres grew to 71,703 tons, up 1.8 percent.

Output of acrylic staple fibre (ASF) touched 12,901 tons, up 3 percent and that of nylon filament reached 7,907 tons, up 2.2 percent.

However, production of polyester filament stood at 14,769 tons, down 3.3 percent and polyester staple fibre scored 13,157 tons also down 3.6 percent.
