Twelve presentations will address the question of how to functionally equip textiles for maximum wearing comfort.
The role of nanotechnology in making comfortable textiles will be discussed by representatives of Nano-Tex Inc. and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
An expert from Freudenberg Vliesstoffe KG will show how certain materials can be used to automatically regulate the temperature.
Other topics covered in this series are: antimicrobial textiles, machine-washable wool, high-tech fibers with permanent effects, cosmetic uses of textiles, and odor-reducing properties.
The parallel series on “Technical Textiles” will focus on the latest applications for textiles in architecture, construction and the automotive industry.
For example, U.S. architect Peter Testa will report on how carbon fibers can be used to make buildings stronger, lighter, safer and higher.
Representatives of Nanogate Coating Systems GmbH, the Italian textile coater Mascioni and the Textile Research Institute of Taiwan will also speak.
In both series, presentations will also deal with optimum marketing of textiles. For example, an expert from the Danish company of Nybo Jensen Konfektion A/S will show how to effectively advertise workwear.
Another general theme will be textiles made from renewable raw materials: various presentations will talk about engineered spider silk and textiles made from bamboo and soy fiber.
The day before the conference begins, on February 14, 2005, there will be a separately bookable workshop on “New Applications of 3D Technology for Textile Products”.
