Bluesign is focusing on revising its criteria for Bluesign System, a holistic solution to change the environmental impact of textiles. The revision comprises changes including language refinements for better understanding, specific changes in content and development of new criteria to make Bluesign System more feasible and better aligned with textile industry.

To improve the criteria and ensure transparency, Bluesign has released the draft of its revised criteria on its website, and is holding a stakeholder consultation, inviting them to engage in this standard-revising process by providing their valuable expertise and opinion, said Bluesign in a press release.

"We invite all stakeholders of Bluesign to join us on the blue way to more responsible and sustainable textile manufacturing by reviewing and submitting comments on the new draft of the Bluesign criteria," said Dr. Thomas Schaefer, head of Bluesign Academy.

The stakeholder consultation will run until September 12, 2019.

The Bluesign System is the key to sustainable textile production. It eliminates harmful substances right from the beginning of the manufacturing process, and sets and controls standards for environmentally friendly and safe production. This not only ensures that the final textile product meets very stringent consumer safety requirements worldwide, but also provides confidence to the consumer in acquiring a sustainable product.

Bluesign Technologies AG was founded in 2000. Since then, the Bluesign System has been adopted by worldwide leading textile and accessory manufacturers. Various significant key players in the chemical and machine industry rely on the Bluesign System. Well-known brands in the outdoor, sportswear, and fashion industry rely on the extensive knowledge that Bluesign provides worldwide. (PC)
