Tech textile market poised to reach $8 bn next fiscal

The Indian technical textile market is set to reach $8 billion by 2007-08 compared to present $4 billion according to Business Coordination House (BCH), an association for increasing technical textile industry in India.
The technical textile industry is expected to reach a global turnover of $107 billion as per the assessment by BCH.
BCH had provided a platform in the form of a symposium recently for select international companies to interact between Indian and foreign companies.
The purpose was to become knowledgeable about raw materials base, application technology and know-how for technical textiles, particularly for medical and hygiene disposable textile products,said BCH.
The symposium generated a very good response from Indian business houses, through inputs from Fulflex, BBA Fiberweb group, GDM, Huhtamaki, 3M and Henkel. They made presentations on a wide variety of products which India could offer.
