Monsanto conveyed that Paul Brimblecombe of Australia stated they have minimized the number of cultivations that are required to control the weeds.
This crop, as you can see, it's about to be harvested. And it's 100 percent open so the harvesting will be precisely on time. And we're very excited about the crop and how we've been able to manage the crop, as well, during the season.
With the aid of the technology – GMO technology – to precisely time the nutrient requirements, as well as irrigation scheduling. And from there, create a very healthy crop.
We saw heavy insect pressure early in the season, and … the GMO technology just eradicated any issues. In the past, up to 85 percent of our time has been concentrating around insect monitoring.
And this year, we've been able to trim that percentage of time back. The lesser applications of insecticide equates to greater than 40 kg of active chemical not being applied within our farming area – let alone within the industry.
And also the technologies enable us to control the weed emergence very precisely. We have minimized the number of cultivations that are required to control the weeds.
Within the crop – the sheer biodiversity the ecology of the crop – you just know the healthiness of that ecology. There's no question the rest of the environment is gonna benefit from that situation.
We, as land managers, we are sustainable on the back that the environment's sustainable. So, we're very, very aware of the environmental issues, and it's just so fortunate to experience the benefits from the GMO technology and see that unfold through the rest of the environment.
