Institut Français du Textile et de l'Habillement (IFTH) announces 3D Designing dedicated to fashion market:

Identification of textile & clothing issues facing globalisation.

Consideration of the current European research strategy to offer new opportunities.

Awareness of European projects latest developments in matter of 3D/2D product designing.

Presentation of concrete examples of the new technological applications.

Body shape analysis to guarantee product Well-Fit:
Product Well-Fit and body volume knowledge are indivisible. European countries such as: France, Sweden, United Kingdom have recently updated their anthropometric data in conducting new Sizing Surveys.

The use of a 3D scanner as been very useful to engender new anthropometric information (e.g.: 3D body scan databases).

France new anthropometric data are now available in the 2006 FRENCH SIZING SURVEY ANTHROPOMETRIC BOX SETS.

Fabrics' virtualisation:
100 percent virtual product designing comes along with a 3D realistic fabric conception the most representative of the physical fabric behaviour (aspect, draping, mechanical characteristics).

A complete detailed fabrics' characterisation database in now available for 2D/3D CAD systems (LEAPFROG project).

3D anthropometric mannequins:
EXCLUSIVE: DISCOVER THE 1st FEMALE 3D MANNEQUIN - Size 40 - CNM

2D/3D product designing must be achieved using 3D anthropometric mannequins the most realistic & adapted to the market target (teenagers, seniors).

Based on LEAPFROG and DESIGN NET projects' studies, new virtual mannequins' databases easy to use by companies are already available.

3D/2D product designing:
3D anthropometric mannequins along with fabrics' characterisation are the basis of any 2D/3D product designing. Nowadays, 2D/3D product designing is available thanks to specific softwares offering practical and realistic 3D garment simulation.
