Symbol Technologies Inc, The Enterprise Mobility Company announced that Talbots selected Symbol's Mobility Services Platform (MSP), mobile computers, bar code scanners and Wi-Fi network infrastructure for use in its retail locations throughout the United States and Canada.
The Symbol solution empowers Talbots' store associates to meet the increasing demands of customers with a wireless platform to ensure customers receive help immediately -- eliminating the need to walk the store for customer service.
"Enabling our employees to service customers anywhere on the store floor is a key component to increasing customer satisfaction and reducing wait time at the register," said Randy Richardson, senior vice president of information services, Talbots.
"With intuitive and productivity-enhancing technology from Symbol, we are able to bring information directly to the customer to provide a more efficient shopping experience while enhancing business operations."
With the credo, "do what is right for the customer," Talbots realized the advantages of a mobile platform and first began using Symbol mobile computers for inventory management.
Building on the success of the Symbol solution, Talbots decided to expand their use of mobile technology to achieve even greater levels of customer service with Symbol MC50 enterprise digital assistants (EDAs), WS2000 wireless switches, AP300 access ports, LS2208 bar code scanners and MSP.
Talbots uses Symbol MC50 EDAs to provide associates with wireless communications for immediate access to the most current inventory information. Talbots also selected Symbol's WS2000 wireless switches and AP300 access ports for its business-critical Wi-Fi network infrastructure, providing wireless connectivity for the MC50 EDAs.
