This week at MAX 2007, Allurent will demonstrate its new e-commerce application built on Adobe (AIR) with content dynamically served via Adobe Scene7 OnDemand. Allurent's project with Anthropologie, the well-known contemporary women's apparel and home goods retailer, is dubbed the Allurent Desktop Connection. Allurent Desktop Connection is a prototype desktop application that provides a premium desktop shopping experience for valued customers. Anthropologie will be conducting a pilot with select customers in the coming months.
Residing on the customer's desktop, Allurent Desktop Connection enables retailers to form more meaningful relationships with their customers. Allurent developed Allurent Desktop Connection as an extension of its existing e-commerce product suite to offer a superior desktop shopping experience.
More than an alert, Allurent Desktop Connection creates a full, immersing shopping experience, reinventing much of the appeal of a glossy paper catalog with a multimedia, truly cinematic look and feel. Allurent Desktop Connection creates a one-to-one direct link between the merchandiser and the customer, enabling retailers to avoid disintermediation from third parties like Google, which is becoming prevalent online. Retailers get complete brand control over the entire Allurent Desktop Connection viewing pane since it doesn't run in a browser.
Opening a new channel to customers, retailers can update Allurent Desktop Connection with data from their website in a “push” mode, rather than having to “pull” customers to their site. Allurent Desktop Connection leverages the advantages of the desktop and provides immediate notification, incredible responsiveness and excellent media quality. Customer orders are completed through the retailer's usual website process.
