For example, the institute will showcase a sensor shirt to record an ECG, a thermal sock for automatic regulation of foot temperature (for diabetics, in particular), a woven keyboard, and other "smart textiles." In addition, the FTB will be presenting research results associated with an automatic system that uses 3D body data to produce individual, perfectly fitting women's outerwear on an industrial scale.
The Centro Tecnologico das Industrias Textil e do Vestuario de Portugal (CITEVE) will be showcasing a protective suit to be worn by patients undergoing hydro-based therapies. This extremely comfortable and attractive suit is designed to ensure high body mobility while also retaining its active breathing and hardwearing features.
In addition to circuits and devices to monitor and measure physical and physiological patient parameters, it is equipped with an interface to an external system that analyzes, processes and stores all the data gathered.
Contributing universities and institutes will also be taking part in the high-caliber congress program of the IMB Forum as well as lectures at Speakers' Corner. Within the exhibition, the new R&D section is clearly signposted on the Boulevard. Reduced admission tickets are available to lecturers and students.
What's more, the new R&D special section will provide IMB Forum 2007 participants with an exclusive preview of topics - particularly the processing and use of technical textiles - that will later feature at the IMB 2009 (April 21 to 24, 2009).
The IMB Forum is organized by Koelnmesse in cooperation with the German Garment and Leather Technology Association (VDMA). It is supported by the premium sponsors Assyst/Bullmer GmbH, AVM GmbH & Co. Softbase KG, Parametric Technology GmbH, and Texdata Software GmbH.
