British Columbia to develop trade & investment relationships

Shri Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, has stated that there is a vast scope and enormous potential to increase the bilateral trade and investment relations between India and Canada, especially in the field of environment technology.
While welcoming Mr. Gordon Campbell, Premier, Province of British Columbia, Canada, last evening along with trade delegation and senior representatives from educational institutes and life science companies, the Commerce & Industry Minister informed that a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement is under negotiation between the two countries.
Elaborating the purpose of his visit, Mr. Gordon Campbell informed that this visit was to develop trade and investment relationships and to discuss business opportunities apart from sharing expertise in urban infrastructure projects.
During the discussions with Shri Kamal Nath, he informed that the British Columbia Province has innovative and skilled workforce, rich natural resources and is an excellent gateway location between North America and Asia to provide the foundation for almost unlimited economic opportunities.
Shri Kamal Nath also emphasised that India's main strength is in the field of talent and enterprise, scientific manpower and skilled workforce.
British Columbia occupies a million square kilometers, and is larger than California, Oregon and Washington states combined or combined area of France and Germany.
