Networking Company AT&T announced it has won a $1.2 million contract from Goods Company Dick's Sporting Goods Inc to provide an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) that will integrate all retail stores, corporate offices and distribution centers across the United States.

By terms of the one-year agreement, AT&T will upgrade services supporting 239 locations, enabling access to AT&T's high-speed backbone and providing support for their network applications.

With the recent acquisition of Galyan's Trading Co Inc, Dick's Sporting Goods has locations in 34 states and $2.1 billion in sales in 2004.

"AT&T provided they with a flexible contract and knowledgeable implementation team that was able to perform the necessary upgrades in a timely and efficient manner," stated Linda Walker, Vice President of Infrastructure and Security, Dick's Sporting Goods. "Knowing that data is secure enables us to focus on company core mission to be the number one sports and fitness specialty retailer for all athletes and outdoor enthusiasts through the relentless improvement of everything they do."

Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect portal, Dick's Sporting Goods has around-the-clock online access to real-time reports on network performance and direct connection to electronic billing and trouble management systems.

AT&T BusinessDirect was recently recognized by the Yankee Group for providing customers with the strongest online support and service experience in the industry.
