"But more than anything else, I am pleased to see the Company make this commitment to our employees who volunteer so much of their personal time to help non-profit groups within their communities. These grants symbolize the great commitment Avery Dennison has had throughout its 75-year history to the communities in which we operate."
During his 62 years with Avery Dennison, Smith has been involved with a large number of academic and community organizations and served on many of their boards. These organizations include Pomona College, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, KCET Public Television and the United Way of Los Angeles.
