Textile testing provider SDL Atlas' Textile Innovators Division now supplies carpets for vacuum cleaner testing and standard detergents for home appliance testing.

Textile Innovators Division is exclusive distributor for specially formulated AHAM 2005 laundry detergent used in AHAM HLW-1 Standard for residential washing machines testing, said Luther Myers, Technical Director for the division. Previously, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) provided members and others with needed quantities of the AHAM 2005 testing detergent.

While Textile Innovators may be best known as a source for test products and consumables for the textile marketplace, the company has also grown into a leading supplier of testing products for the home appliance market.

Because of the enzymes it contains, the 2005 formula test detergent requires special handling and storage. Myers said his company recently completed construction of a 400-square-foot, climate-controlled storage facility capable of housing up to 2,000 pounds of the advanced test detergent.

Also, the company has installed a $10,000 Swedish-built Electrolux Wasacator Model FOM 71 CLS reference washing machine that operates with the AHAM formula detergent. The company performs ongoing testing on lot-by-lot integrity of the AHAM 2005 formula.

Textile Innovators also provides carpet samples that comply with the ASTM F608-03 and F655-03 standard for efficiency testing of vacuum cleaners. Myers said his company furnishes four carpet varieties used in vacuum cleaner tests. Included are custom tufted wool level loop, nylon plush, nylon multi-level and nylon shag carpets, all sized and shipped for immediate use.
