Aiming to become more professional, actor-turned-fashion model Tran Binh Minh is all set to play a new role, when he will groom young men to become professional models, for the first national fashion model contest, Manhunt Vietnam 2006.

Ha Noi and HCM City will host the preliminary rounds in November-December where contestants will be judged on knowledge and appearance based on physique and costumes, both modern and traditional.

The event will draw more attention from garment producers, designers, and advertising agencies to these fast growing industries.

Many of his younger colleagues have already signed up for the competition, where more than 500 young aspiring models are expected to participate, according to the event organisers, Chan Tran Communication Company and The Thao Van Hoa & Dan Ong (Sports Culture & Men) magazine.

The country's fashion and advertising fields, though new, have already created jobs for many people, mainly youngsters, for which the organizing committee had worked closely with youth unions in remote provinces.

The organizers have worked hard to provide amateur fashion models, particularly young men living in remote areas and those who have no experience, the opportunity to enter the world of modeling.

The event will choose 20 finalists. The winner will get a gold cup and VND35 million (US $2,200) in cash and will also go to Manhunt International 2007 in South Korea next year.
