  • Philippine textile imports were largely flat in January–November, with yarn, fabrics and made-ups easing slightly, while fibre and waste imports fell sharply. In contrast, apparel imports recorded modest growth. Although textile and garment exports improved, led by stronger apparel and fabric shipments, they remained well below import levels, underlining the sector's continued import-led structure.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), imports of textile yarn, fabrics, made-up articles and related products stood at $*,***.** million (FoB) in January–November ****, marginally lower than $*,***.** million in the corresponding period of the previous year. Imports of textile fibre and waste declined by **.* per cent to $***.** million, compared with $***.** million a year earlier. Meanwhile, imports of articles of apparel and accessories rose by *.* per cent to $***.** million, up from $***.** million in the same period last year.

Overall, total Philippine imports increased by *.* per cent year on year to $***.** billion in January–November ****. Textile and garment imports together accounted for about *.** per cent of total imports, with fabrics and made-ups forming the largest share, followed by apparel. This underscores the country’s continued dependence on imported finished garments and textile inputs.
