US' textiles & apparel imports drop 1.9% in Jan-Aug 2024

During the first eight months of ****, apparel imports, which make up the bulk of US textile imports, fell by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, down from $**.*** billion in the same period in ****. However, non-apparel imports increased by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, according to the US Department of Commerce’s Major Shippers Report.

Among the top ** apparel suppliers, Cambodia and Pakistan saw increases of up to *.** per cent during this period. Imports from Cambodia grew by *.** per cent, while Pakistan saw a rise of *.** per cent. In contrast, imports from China dropped by *.** per cent, Vietnam by *.** per cent, Bangladesh by *.** per cent, India by *.** per cent, Indonesia by *.** per cent, Mexico by **.** per cent, Honduras by *.** per cent, and Italy by *.** per cent.
