US' textiles & apparel imports drop 22% to $71.3 bn in Jan-Aug 2023

In January-August ****, the majority of US textile imports comprised apparel, amounting to $**.*** billion, down **.** per cent compared to $**.*** billion in January-August ****. Non-apparel imports accounted for $**.*** billion, a decline of ** per cent from $**.*** billion in the same period the previous year, according to the latest Major Shippers Report released by the US Department of Commerce. Both segments saw a decrease in inbound shipments. 

Among the top ten apparel suppliers to the US, imports from none of the countries registered an increase. The imports from China and Cambodia declined by **.** per cent and **.** per cent, respectively. Imports from Pakistan dropped by **.** per cent, Vietnam by **.** per cent, Indonesia by **.** per cent, Honduras by **.** per cent, Bangladesh by **.** per cent, and India by **.** per cent.
