The Centre is likely to gratify UP state by announcing a surfeit of sops which includes new trains, railway lines, roads and incentive schemes for carpet weavers and other handicrafts due to forthcoming Union and Railway Budgets.
The gratification will be with an eye on the assembly elections to be held shortly in the state.
There are possibilities of new trains being announced and construction of new rail lines undertaken besides new programmes for roads, sources said.
Carpet weavers, leather sector and handicraft industry like brassware and glass-product manufacturers being employment generating sectors may also get incentives as announced earlier by Chidambaram.
Government has already given cluster status to specific areas where carpet, brassware, leather products are manufactured in UP.
