The Turkish government’s budget balance witnessed a deficit of 275.3 billion liras ($8.5 billion) in June this year, according to data from the treasury and finance ministry.

In May, there was a surplus of 219.4 billion Turkish liras ($6.8 billion), data showed.

Budget revenues totalled 591.2 billion liras ($18.2 billion), while the expenditure was at 866.5 billion liras ($26.6 billion) in June.

The non-interest expenditure was worth 767.2 billion liras ($23.6 billion) and interest payments were worth 99.3 billion liras ($3.1 billion) last month.

Excluding interest payments, the budget balance witnessed a deficit of 176 billion liras ($5.4 billion), whereas tax revenues totalled 483.1 billion liras ($14.8 billion).

The budget balance ran a deficit of 747.2 billion liras ($23.6 billion) in the first half (H1) this year. Budget revenues reached 3.8 trillion liras ($121.2 billion) in H1, while spending amounted to 4.6 trillion liras ($144.8 billion).
