In China, the luxury fibre gained 11 per cent in January-March 2022 quarter. The fibre crashed 19.05 per cent to $88.91 per kg (FOB) in January-March 2021. However, it bounced back 13.28 per cent to $100.73 per kg in April-June 2021. The prices again dropped 2.91 per cent to $97.80 in July-September 2021. It surged 19.03 per cent to $116.41 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
In Italy, the price of cashmere fibre increased 5.16 per cent to $129.30 per kg (FOB) in January-March 2022. The price remained steady at $91.35 per kg in January-March 2021 but registered gradual growth since April-June 2021. The price gained 11.95 per cent to $102.27 in April-June 2021, 7.65 per cent to $110.09 in July-September 2021 and 11.69 per cent to $122.96 per kg in October-December 2021, as per TexPro.
Cashmere fibre was priced at $123.25 per kg in Italian domestic market in latest quarter. It means, Italian FOB prices noted a premium of $6.05 per kg over domestic prices.
The price of cashmere fibre saw a steep fall in January-March 2021 and July-September 2021 due to very harsh restrictions and lockdowns to contain COVID-19 in China under the country’s zero tolerance policy. However, there was no impact on cashmere fibre price in Italy.
