The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been permitted to charge a new levy from buyers of wool.

The levy will in all probability improve demand of wool and thereby result increase of wool exports, viewed ACCC Chairman, Graeme Samuel.

On the second day of wool sales for the year, a strong demand was generated, with the benchmark wool indicator climbing nine cents.

The Federation of Australian Wool Organisations put up a $1.50 per bale levy, as a test marketing campaign in the United States.
