The first British Wool Sale of the 2012/13 Season was held by the British Wool Marketing Board at Wool House and offered 2,516,162 kilos.

Due to the inclement weather and delayed start to the grading season this sale consisted entirely of 2011 clip wool.  The market was stronger than at recent sales with over one million kilos sold.

Compared to the last time sold:

Pick and Super Hogs Fully Firm, others up to: 5% cheaper

Halfbreds: 3.5 - 5% cheaper

Crosses: 5% cheaper

Cheviots: 2.5 - 3.5% cheaper

Medium Radnors Firm, other Radnors up to: 4% cheaper

Selected Welsh Firm, other Welsh: 3 - 5% cheaper

Swaledale up to: 5% cheaper

The British Wool Marketing Board operates a central marketing system for UK fleece wool with the aim of achieving the best possible net returns for farmers.
