Thicker wool beats fine wool for the first time ever

Thicker count wool, which usually trades at a lower price compared to finer variety wool, surprisingly ended a little higher than fine wool in Western Australia.

At the last sales for this season, prior to winter recess, in Fremantle, 21 and 22 micron wool closed at a price that was 15 cents more than the price of 20 micron wool.

Landmark wool said it is very rare for thicker count wool to get more price than finer wool and it seems to have happened for the first time in living memory.

The company said it was a pretty disappointing way to end the current selling season.
