New Zealand wool exports at eight-year peak

The value of wool exported by New Zealand during the last financial year ending June 2012 was the highest since 2004, according to the data released by Beef and Lamb New Zealand's Economic Service. 
 
During the financial year, New Zealand exported 106,000 tonnes of clean wool, which fetched revenue of NZ$ 777 million.
 
The figure is $ 62 million or 8.6 percent more than the value of New Zealand’s wool exports in 2010-11.
 
In fiscal 2010-11, the value of wool exports rose by 30 percent year-on-year.
 
According to Economic Service, 72 percent of the wool exported by New Zealand during last fiscal was traded in US dollars, while only 19 percent of the wool exports were traded in euros.
 
Last fiscal, New Zealand farmers received 16 percent more price for their wool compared to last year.
