Mrs Dalton said being able to see the next link in the chain at Haworth Scouring was another eye-opening moment for the group and helped them better understand how much work goes on further down the supply chain. "The scouring plant was fascinating and really helped us comprehend all the different aspects of getting wool from the sheep to a usable material."

As ever with these visits, while the farmers undoubtedly got a lot out of it, the BWMB staff also found it a useful way of getting feedback from producers, said Mr Hartley. “We welcome any opportunity to speak to wool producers as it helps them understand our work better and also gives us the opportunity to understand their issues better.”

The Lampeter Agricultural Discussion Group attended the BWMB Wool Process Tour as part of their week long study tour in collaboration with Farming Connect. The delegates enjoyed a compact itinerary including farm visits, industry businesses and presentations. The tour was formed to engage and enrich the group members with further knowledge of agricultural activities in the north of England.
